Debt Management Helped Me Mend My Bad Credit

A few years ago I found myself in financial trouble and ever since then I had been trying to get back on the straight and narrow. I had been paying back little bits of my debts for years but with a small income and more money going out on loans then I earned, it was taking me a long time to pay them back. My credit score was terrible, I tried to apply for loans but it was no use and every time I got turned down for a loan it was leaving a footprint on my credit score.

I looked online and sought the help of an adviser who helped me to work out a debt management plan. He advised me to work out what I owed, how much I was paying out each month including my bills and food, to see exactly how much I was paying out, I had never done this before and was surprised to see that my wage did actually cover everything. My adviser also said that I needed to look at where my money was going and to stop spending it on things that I did not need. He encouraged me to be honest with myself.

Once I did that I knew that if I wanted to make things better I would have to cut out some things that I enjoyed socially. It was going to take a lot of hard work and determination. After a year of getting my head down I was starting to get my life back on track. I took on a part time job in a pub so I could still have a social life and things were looking up for the first time in years.
