Mortgage Repayments And Credit Card Debts Put Retirement On Hold For Many Over 65’s


We all dream of a happy carefree retirement but according to a survey by prudent which revealed that 1 in 10 men, 65 and over have debts of over £50,000, their future looks pretty miserable.

There are many people who are at retirement age struggling to pay off their credit cards and mortgages.

“The current batch of over-55s are in a difficult position. Many are having children later who could still be at university and they may also have parents who are still alive, so they are sandwiched between two financially dependent generations,” says Una Farrell of the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS).”
